Membership Drive
Dear Fellow MIAAP Colleagues:
October 28, 2010
On behalf of the Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, I would like to introduce myself and invite you to renew your membership.
As a practicing pediatrician for 28 years, I have seen firsthand how important my membership is with the Michigan Chapter. I have actively participated on committees, served as a liaison for the Michigan Chapter with our medical society and child health colleagues, and attended numerous continuing medical education (CME) programs on a wide range of clinical topics over the years. As the CEO of Mott Children’s Health Center, I rely on the MI Chapter to keep me informed of policy and fiscal issues that pertain to child health, reimbursement, and practice issues.
My dues to the Michigan Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics are well worth the access, education, and information I receive annually to practice pediatric medicine in Michigan.
Recently, you might have noticed a change in the AAP dues process. Normally the AAP collects dues for state chapters when you renew your membership with the AAP. Unfortunately, the AAP renewal form was not clear and switched from a single renewal date for all members to individual anniversary dates to determine when payments are due. These changes resulted in a loss of over 300 members to the MIAAP since 2009. Many of our members may have inadvertently not included their state chapter dues renewal when they completed the AAP form.
You may be one of them.
Please renew your membership with the Michigan Chapter as soon as possible. You may also receive a Constant Contact email reminder linking you to this page to provide many options for you to renew your membership with the Michigan Chapter.
Health care reform, Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Maintenance of Certification, provider reimbursement, and a whole host of child health and practice issues are on the Michigan Chapter policy agenda for 2011. We need your voice to be included at the various policy and program tables when the Michigan Chapter board, committees and staff are advocating for the profession of pediatrics and improving child health.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me or Denise Sloan, our Michigan Chapter Executive Director.
Thank you for your immediate attention to your membership renewal!
Best Regards,

Lawrence Reynolds, M.D., FAAP
MIAAP Board President
P.S. Don't forget to renew your membership today!
