Pediatric Benadryl is Obsolete…and Other Updates from the World of Allergy
Speaker: David Stukus, MD
Evidence surrounding common allergic conditions has evolved in recent years and it is challenging for primary care pediatricians and other specialists to stay current with changing clinical guidelines. Ideally, the publication of new evidence would change clinical practice immediately, but there is a lag, often a decade or longer, before implementation occurs.
This session will review current evidence surrounding common areas pertaining to allergic conditions, including use of antihistamines for treatment, diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis, food allergy diagnosis and prevention, atopic dermatitis, and penicillin allergy delabeling.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the role of antihistamines in treating various conditions
Interpret food allergy test results in the proper context
Prepare questions to assess for suspected penicillin allergy
