Preventative Cardiology in Pediatrics

Issues such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia are often thought of as "adult issues”, with rising rates of obesity and continued difficulty in accessing health care, as well as evidence showing coronary artery disease starts early, it is important that pediatricians and pediatric subspecialist are familiar and know when to screen, what to recognize and when/where to refer.
Participants will learn to identify the optimal time for lipid and blood pressure screening, intervention and when to refer, learn red flags and when referral is more urgent, learn the basics of risk and the ways exercise and diet can impact lipids and blood pressure.
