Toxic Stress, Building Resiliency
Speaker: Mark A. Sloane, DO
Schools and PCPs have long collaborated to help behaviorally complex students optimize their social, behavioral, and academic performance in all settings; however, logistic barriers that hinder optimal collaboration are a fixable gap here.
This practice model uses primary care care manager nurses (CMN) to bridge the gap between schools and local primary care providers; local CMN’s attend school-based interdisciplinary trauma assessments and follow-up sessions.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practice model
Understand the main principles of building resiliency in children & adolescents
Understand the basic components of school-PC collaborative practice models
Understand the critical importance of the primary-care based care manager nurse in this practice model
Understand the need for objective outcome measures for complex children
