Dr. Ernst graduated from University of Michigan Medical School in 1993 and completed Obstetrics and Gynecology training in 1997.  In 2002, she became the Director of Gynecology and Sexual Health at the University Health Service of the University of Michigan. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her research interests are diverse and include college students’ knowledge of long acting contraception, student satisfaction with sexual assault services on campus, unmet healthcare needs of transgender and non-binary students and student experiences with inappropriate and disrespectful healthcare.  Dr Ernst led a task force for the American College Health Association on best practices for sensitive exams which culminated in a white paper on the topic. Dr Ernst has also been appointed by the District Court of Central California to sit on 2 special master panels in class action settlements regarding physician sexual misconduct at USC and UCLA.  In 2022 she was appointed to both the University of Michigan and American College Health Association Reproductive Rights Task Forces.

Kate Flewelling is a member of the University of Michigan’s Office of the Vice President and General Counsel.  Kate works with Michigan Medicine on various transactional and regulatory matters with a focus on external strategy, provider issues and reproductive healthcare.  Kate has been a member of the University of Michigan’s Post-Roe/Dobbs task force. Prior to joining OGC, Kate was as assistant general counsel at Munson Healthcare.  She has previous experience at several law firms, including Kirkland & Ellis’ Chicago office and Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s New York office.  Kate received her B.A. cum laude for Northwestern University and J.D. cum laude from the New York University School of Law.


Charisse Loder, MD is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Michigan Medicine, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She completed medical school at Penn State School of Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, NY. She completed a fellowship in family planning at the University of Michigan. Dr. Loder joined the faculty at Michigan Medicine, where she specializes in complex family planning and pregnancy loss. She is the program director of the fellowship in complex family planning. Her research interests are in medical education and reproductive justice. She has collaborated with reproductive justice advocates across the country to develop educational materials for medical students regarding reproductive autonomy, justice and policy.
