Melissa Ayoub Heinen, DO, MPH, FAAP Division Head of Pediatrics Trinity Health IHA Medical Group

Dr. Melissa Heinen is the Division Head of Pediatrics at Trinity Health IHA Medical Group, where she leads pediatric clinical strategy, quality initiatives, and care delivery across multiple pediatric practices across southeast Michigan. She also serves as Chair of the Pediatric Expert Panel nationally for Trinity Health, helping guide system-wide pediatric clinical standards, quality improvement efforts, and population health strategies to improve outcomes for children.  She is involved in the MIAAP as a member of the Government Affairs and Advocacy Committee and the alternate member representing MIAAP on the Michigan Advisory Committee on Immunizations (MACI).

In addition to her leadership roles, Dr. Heinen practices general pediatrics at Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Plymouth and Livonia, Michigan. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Healing Center Southeast Michigan, supporting programs that provide a safe community space for children with weakened immune systems and their families.

Dr. Heinen completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Her professional interests include pediatric population health, quality improvement, immunization advocacy, and advancing evidence-based care for children across health systems and communities. When she is not working, she fills her days traveling and enjoying time with her family.
