Dr. Michael Klein grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio and went to college in Chicago. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the New England Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Klein did his pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. Dr. Klein stepped down as Surgeon-in-Chief at CHM in 2009. He continues in the active practice of pediatric surgery, including call.

Dr. Klein’s day consists of making rounds with the residents, operating with the residents, seeing patients in the office, and doing medical engineering research at Children’s and Wayne State University. Dr. Klein’s practice extends to Toledo where he works 20% of the time.

At the AAP, Dr. Klein has been a member of the Committee on Hospital Care, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Surgical Section, Chair of the Surgical Advisory Panel, and Chair-elect of the Section Forum Management Committee.
