Sharon Swindell, MD, mph, FAAP      President

Sharon Swindell MD, MPH is an academic general pediatrician and child health advocate. She has been practicing at the University of Michigan Ypsilanti Pediatrics, a predominantly low-income and diverse practice, for 22 years, where she is also involved in the teaching of medical students and pediatric residents. She is the chairperson of the MIAAP’s Committee on Advocacy and Government Affairs and co-coordinates the MIAAP’s annual Resident Advocacy Day in Lansing. Dr. Swindell has also served a 6-year term in the national AAP’s Committee on State Government Affairs (COSGA) and in that role was a faculty member at the annual Legislative Conference in Washington D.C.

Dr. Swindell received a BA at William’s College, MD at University of Texas Medical School- Houston, MPH at Harvard School of Public Health, and completed Pediatric Residency training, including a year as Chief Resident, at University of Massachusetts Medical School and Hospital. She is married with 2 grown sons.
