Considerations in Recurrent Pain & Headaches from Postural Muscle Overload/Overuse in Children & Adolescents

Speaker: Lisa DeStefano, DO

Etiology of pain - there is a large gap in understanding, diagnosing, and treating pain in general but in particular musculoskeletal pain not due to trauma.

There is a need for a safe, rational, sustainable approach to diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal pain due to postural overuse or overload.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the difference in postural vs dynamic muscle types

  • Understand the referral patterns of typically overused muscles of the upper quarter

  • Be provided tools to optimize posture, empower young patients and eliminate painfor change
